Care is Expensive!
10 Ways to Pay for Care: German Government Funding

German Government Compensation Program for Holocaust Survivors

By Richard Wexler, Co-Founder and CEO of APlan2Age

The German government offers a compensation program designed to support Holocaust survivors worldwide. Today, there are over 200,000 survivors globally, with approximately 40,000 still residing in the United States.

This program provides crucial assistance to cover the costs of care, including home care, medicine, and food. In 2025 alone, over $530 million in compensation was distributed globally, with $960 million specifically allocated for survivor care.

If you are working with a client who is a Holocaust survivor, it’s worth exploring whether they may qualify for these benefits. The official website, which provides detailed information and application instructions, is linked on our resources page.

This program, like other survivor-focused benefits, ensures that those who endured unimaginable hardship have access to the support they need to live safely and with dignity.
